We spend a large chunk of our lives at work.
If work doesn't cooperate or isn't aligned with your life goals, tension builds up, and eventually, something gives.
Sadly, more often than not, it's your happiness that suffers.
That's why I'm obsessed with careers and work and how it all unfolds.
Your work/life balance should simply be "life balance"—all of it pointing towards your desires, wishes, and happiness.
The amount of time we spend at work is so significant that it can't simply be separated.
It shouldn't be: "50% of my week I do that shit thing over there I call work, and then I do life with the other 50%!" Haha!
This often happens because we start outsourcing this really important part of our lives we call work or career to others from a very young age.
Think about it this way... Your career is on a trajectory, and that trajectory follows Newton's first law of motion, which says:
An object will not change its motion unless a force acts on it.
The issue is that normally, that force acting upon your career tends to be an external force instead of you driving it and deciding what to do.
We often let HR, the market, your boss, your career coach, your headhunter, recruiter, etc., tell you what to do and what's next.
DON’T - OUTSOURCE - YOUR - CAREER!
I encourage you to do something about it and not let it just sit there.
That inertia in the trajectory of your career is so powerful that often you blink and wake up 5, 10 years later to realize that you're not in the place you wanted to be.
Congrats on joining this program. I hope you act upon it to start doing something about it.
CHANGE YOUR TRAJECTORY BEFORE YOU BLINK AGAIN.
Note:
This course could easily be called “Life Ownership” because the concept and mindset can be applied to all of your life, not only your career.
This course will give you the tools and the mindset to change your life and do what you want—for you to happen to life and not life happening to you. But we'll start focusing on career because it's often what we outsource the most, and it is a huge part of our life (in time but also mental demand).
